1. PIO Card withdrawal

      As per the Government of India Gazette Notification No. 26011/01/2014-IC.I dated 9 January 2015, all PIO cards issued till 9 January 2015 are deemed to be OCI cards. PIO scheme has been withdrawn vide Gazette Notification No. 25024/9/2014-F.I dated 9 January 2015.

The Embassy of India, Buenos Aires, will, therefore, not be issuing any fresh PIO cards with effect from 9 January 2015. All PIO applications received before 9 January 2015 and pending with the Embassy will be returned to the applicants with the request to apply for OCI card on the fee already paid for PIO card. All PIO card applications received on and after 9 January 2015 will also be returned to the applicants with the directions to apply for OCI card as PIO card scheme is no longer in existence.

ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS VERIFICATION

With effect from 23.11.2015, applicants must complete the online application form for OCI in all aspects and upload the self-attested copies of all the required documents, photographs and signatures, and submit the print out of the completed OCI application form as well as original and photocopies of all the supporting documents.

REQUIREMENTS FOR OCI CARD

  1. OCI application form duly filled in online at http://passport.gov.in/oci/capchaAction then saved, printed and completed in all respects, duly signed including affixing of photo as per specifications given in the link Guidelines for photographs and Sample Photographs on the website of the Embassy, under “passport information”.

  2. Self-attested copy of foreign passport.

  3. Original DNI or foreign identity card (Residence card) with self-attested copy. If it is not possible to submit the original, get its photocopy stamped by Notary, National Police of concerned country i.e. Argentina, Uruguay, & Paraguay.

  4. Self-attested copy of proof when foreign nationality granted (Certificado Literal) with English translation.

  5. Self-attested copy of Indian passport Surrender Certificate, if Surrender Certificate not available, then self-attested photocopy of last Indian passport.

  6. Two additional photos from same snap as affixed in the form.

  7. Declaration of change in name, if name has been changed.

  8. Consular Fee (Argentine Peso 3875 i.e. Equivalent to USD 277)


Following additional documents, if the applicant never held Indian passport:

  1. Instead of copies of last Indian passport and Surrender Certificate, please come to the Embassy to sign before the Consular Officer, an affidavit declaring that applicant never held Indian passport.

  2. Self-attested copy of any document that proves Indian origin, like Indian passport or birth certificate of applicant or either of the parents, grandparents, school living certificate, etc.

  3. Relevant documents establishing hierarchy of the parentage.

FOR MINORS:

OCI General Requirements:

  1. OCI application form duly filled in online at http://passport.gov.in/oci/capchaAction then saved, printed and completed in all respects, duly signed including affixing of photo as per specifications given in the link Guidelines for photographs and Sample Photographs on the website of the Embassy, under “passport information”.

  2. Self-attested copy of foreign passport.

  3. Original DNI or foreign identity card (Residence card) with self-attested copy. If it is not possible to submit the original, get its photocopy stamped by Notary, National Police of concerned country Argentina, Uruguay & Paraguay.

  4. Self-attested copy of proof when foreign nationality granted (Certificado Literal) with English translation.

  5. Self-attested copy of Indian passport Surrender Certificate, if Surrender Certificate not available, then self-attested photocopy of last Indian passport.

  6. Two additional photo from same snap as affixed in the form.

  7. Declaration of change in name, if name has been changed.

  8. Self-attested copy of parents' foreign passport.

  9. Self-attested copy of parents' Indian passport cancelled and Self-attested copy of parents Surrender Certificate. Or Self-attested copy of one or both parents OCI card.

  10. Self-attested copy of Marriage certificate of parents legalized with English translation, if required.

  11. Consular Fee : Argentine Peso 3875.

Following additional documents, if the applicant never held Indian passport:

  1. Instead of copies of last Indian passport and Surrender Certificate, both parents have to come to the Embassy in Buenos Aires and sign before the Consular Officer an affidavit declaring this circumstance. This attesting service has a fee of Argentine Peso 305. 

  2. Self-attested copy of any document that proves Indian origin, like Indian passport or birth certificate of applicant or either of the parents, grandparents, school living certificate, etc.

FOR SPOUSE OF INDIAN ORIGIN PERSON:

OCI General Requirements:

  1. OCI application form duly filled in online at http://passport.gov.in/oci/capchaAction then saved, printed and completed in all respects, duly signed including affixing of photo as per specifications given in the link Guidelines for photographs and Sample Photographs on the website of the Embassy, under “passport information”.

  2. Self-attested copy of foreign passport

  3. Original DNI or foreign identity card (Residence card) with self-attested copy. If it is not possible to submit the original, get its photocopy stamped by Notary, National Police of concerned country i.e. Argentina, Uruguay & Paraguay.

  4. Two additional photos from same snap as affixed in the form.

  5. Self- attested copy of Marriage Certificate with English translation or International format of Marriage Certificate.

  6. Both spouses have to come to the Embassy in Buenos Aires and sign a joint affidavit regarding marriage continuity for more than 2 years before the date of the application, to be signed before the Consular Officer. This attesting service has a fee of Argentine Peso 305. 

  7. Self-attested copy of Indian passport or OCI card of Indian origin spouse.

  8. Fee of Argentine Peso 3875.

OCI MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES:

  1. For change in any details in the OCI ( new passport number, applicant´s name, etc)

  1.  OCI application form duly filled in online at http://passport.gov.in/oci/capchaAction then saved, printed and completed in all respects, duly signed including affixing of photo as per specifications given in the link Guidelines for photographs and Sample Photographs on the website of the Embassy, under “passport information”.

  2. Self-attested copy of new foreign passport.

  6. Consular Fee Argentine Peso 375

  1. Damage/ Lost OCI:

  1. OCI application form duly filled in online at http://passport.gov.in/oci/capchaAction then saved, printed and completed in all respects, duly signed including affixing of photo as per specifications given in the link Guidelines for photographs and Sample Photographs on the website of the Embassy, under “passport information”.

  2. Self-attested copy of  new foreign passport

  3. Self-attested copy of old foreign passport if the OCI refers to it.

  4. Self-attested copy of Police report with English translation.

  5. Applicant has to visit Indian Embassy in Buenos Aires and sign an affidavit before the Consular Officer stating circumstances of loss of OCI card. This attesting service has a fee of Argentine Peso 305. 

  6. Self-attested copy of old OCI card if possible.

  7. Two additional photos from same snap as affixed in the form.

  8. Consular Fee Argentine Peso 1425

REQUIREMENTS FOR PIO CARD CONVERSION TO OCI CARD

  1. As regards submission of application for registration as OCI cardholders in lieu of the PIO card on line, the date of submission of online applications by erstwhile PIO cardholders with valid PIO cards as on 9.1.2015 has been extended till 31.12.2016.

  2. The applicants may submit the applications for OCI cards in lieu of PIO card to the Indian Mission concerned within the jurisdiction of his/her place of residence.

  1. Indian origin PIO CARD holder:

    2. Two additional photos from same snap as affixed in the form.

    3. Original PIO card and self- attested copy.

    4. Self-attested copy of current Spanish passport and old Spanish passport if the PIO card refers to it.

  1. Minor Indian origin:

    4. Self-attested copy of current Argentine/Urguay/Paraguay passport and old Spanish passport if the PIO refers to it.

    5. Original DNI or foreign identity card (Residence card) with self-attested copy. If it is no possible to submit the original, get its photocopy stamped by Notary, National Police of concerned country i.e. Argentina, Uruguay & Paraguay.

    6. Self-attested copy Marriage Certificate with English translation

    7. Both spouses have to come to the Embassy in Embassy of India, Buenos Aires and attach a joint affidavit attesting marriage continuity for more than 2 years before the date of the application to be signed before the Consular Officer. This attesting service has a fee of Argentine Peso 305. 

    8.  Self-attested copy of Indian passport or OCI card of Indian origin spouse.

    9. No fees.
