II IDY Celebrations in Montevideo, Uruguay

II International Day of Yoga celebrations at KIBON, Montevideo, Uruguay on 19 June 2016

The Embassy of India in Buenos Aires represented by the Honorary Consulate General of India in Montevideo, Uruguay, in collaboration with the city government of Montevideo, Tata Motors and 8 yoga  institutions (Anand Centre, Art of Living, Brahma Kumaris, Hastinapur Institute, Institute of Carrasco Yoga, Purna Yoga Association, Satyanand School in Uruguay, Shivanand Yoga Association) organised the II International Day of Yoga at KIBON (on the banks of the river Uruguay), in the capital city of Uruguay in Montevideo on 19 June (Sunday) from 1000 - 1300 hrs.  The event saw over 2,000 people from all walks of life participating in various yoga and meditation sessions.

 

Special messages for the occasion from the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj, were screened at the event.  Honourable Mayor of Montevideo city, Mr. Daniel Martinez inaugurated the event and in his inaugural speech recognised Prime Minister Modi’s initiative of bringing Indian yoga to the world stage as never before.

 

Head of Chancery and Second Secretary in the Embassy of India, Mr. Harvinder Singh extended a warm welcome to the people of Uruguay and the Indian diaspora who made the event successful with their enthusiastic participation.
